The United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen has announced her resignation.
The US President, Donald Trump earlier tweeted she would be temporarily replaced by Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan.
This afternoon I submitted my resignation to @POTUS and thanked him for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
